Richfield Wind Farm
Richfield Wind Farm is located near Bridgetown in Co. Wexford.
The 27MW Richfield wind farm comprises 18 turbines and entered commercial operation in 2006. Richfield Wind Farm can power almost 18,000 homes^ and help abate almost 22,000 tonnes of harmful carbon dioxide* per annum.
The Richfield Community Fund launched in 2007. So far around €416,848 has been presented to groups around the wind farm.
We are currently finalising an application to extend the operational life of the Richfield wind farm by 20 years. We will shortly be submitting a planning application to Wexford County Council and will provide a link to the planning documents here when they are available.
Extension to life proposal
We have submitted an application to Wexford County Council in December 2024 to extend the operational life of Richfield Wind Farm. The current planning permission was granted for 20 years in 2005 and we are seeking an extension of operations for a further 20 years. The planning application is available to view at Wexford County Council and the planning application number is 24/1547.
To support this application, we have carried out a number of surveys in the vicinity of the wind farm over the last number of months including noise monitoring, bird and bat activity monitoring and flood assessments. These surveys will provide valuable information about the ongoing operation of the wind farm.
Extending our planning permission will allow us to continue providing 27 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy every year and help Ireland to meet its binding climate targets by reducing harmful CO2 emissions.
It also means our local Community Benefit Fund can continue to provide funding for the local community for the extended lifetime of the project.
To date, we’ve provided €416,848 and supported 266 local groups, including local GAA clubs and other sports groups, schools initiatives and energy efficiency upgrades.
For more information on our upcoming planning application please see our leaflet or, alternatively, email [email protected].
