Through the Dogger Bank Wind Farm, and together with our joint venture partners, we’ve invested £1 million during the construction of the offshore wind farm to local communities, and committed to a further investment of £25 million during operations. Dogger Bank is a joint venture project between SSE Renewables, Equinor and Vårgrønn.

A key focus for the fund will be supporting young people in the wind farm’s key communities by investing in STEM educational activities (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and scholarships. Money is also available to support local grassroots community groups.

Dogger Bank Wind Farm will share the benefit of the wind farm with the coastal communities nearest to our onshore transmission and operations assets:

  • East Riding of Yorkshire
  • Redcar and Cleveland
  • South Tyneside

During the operational phase of the wind farm, the fund will provide:

  • Dogger Bank STEM Programme – raising aspirations and preparing young people for jobs in a net zero world
  • Dogger Bank Scholarship Programme – helping the next generation by providing scholarships to local students studying STEM subjects.
  • Operators Fund – providing grants of up to £1,000 to local grassroots community groups.
