Lenalea Community Benefit Fund

The Lenalea Community Benefit Fund will provide grants to local community groups and not-for-profit organisations located within 15km of the wind farm.

The Fund comprises of three elements:

The Local Fund

The Local Fund supports projects focused on energy efficiency, safety, environmental sustainability, social sustainability, recreation and tourism, and education and skills development.

The Major Projects Fund

The Major Projects Fund will be supporting larger-scale projects in the area, from 2026.

The Near Neighbour Fund

Residents living within a radius of 2km of Lenalea Wind Farm are entitled to a Near Neighbour payment of €1,000 per household.

Fund value

For the 2023-2024 period, the Community Benefit Fund is approximately €40,000. This is because the electricity generation’s contribution to the fund covers a shorter period in this financial year.

This will increase substantially in the financial year 2025–2026 to approximately €150,000.

Community Benefit Guidance Document - March 2025

Residents living within a radius of 2km of the Lenalea Wind Farm are entitled to a Near Neighbour payment of €1,000 per household.

The distance is identified from the base of the nearest turbine to the nearest part of the structure of the occupied residence (not outbuildings etc.), the location of which is identified in the An Post geo-directory.
