Langhope Rig Wind Farm, situated near Hawick in the Scottish Borders, has scooped an environmental best practice award at a ceremony in the House of Commons.
The Bronze Green Apple Award, which was awarded to Langhope's principal contractor Gael Force Renewables and SSE Renewables Construction Project Manager, Matt Hunter, was bestowed in recognition of the excellent environmental standards followed at the site and the approach taken towards sustainable development throughout construction.
On winning the title, Matt Hunter stated: "Gael Force and I are so proud to receive such a prestigious award during the construction of the Langhope Rig project. As a responsible developer, we always aim to achieve the highest standard of environmental care to deliver a sustainable development, however it is always nice to be acknowledged for the project's achievements by an international body such as The Green Organisation."
Construction of the 10 turbine Langhope Rig project is expected to complete in Spring 2015.
