SSE Airtricity makes 12th Community Fund presentation to groups around its Corneen Wind Farm
04 Dec 2014
SSE Airtricity has presented over €6,000 in Community Funding for two community groups in the vicinity of its Corneen Wind Farm in County Cavan. Now in its 12th year, the SSE Airtricity Community Fund has invested more than €70,000 into local groups and organisations in County Cavan.
This year groups being supported from the Corneen Community Funds are the Bawnboy Workhouse Ltd and the Men’s Shed, Killeshandra for solar panels and a shed conversion.
Anne Reynolds, SSE Airtricity Community Development Officer, commented:
“We’re delighted at SSE Airtricity to be presenting the Community Fund from our Corneen wind farm. At SSE Airtricity we believe it’s important that communities should see the ongoing benefit of community funding from the wind farms that they are hosting in the region, so we’re extremely pleased to be presenting over €6,000 in funding from our Corneen wind farm for two forward-thinking and innovative local projects. The Corneen fund is one of our longest running funds, and it’s fantastic to see what a positive impact the fund has made to the community over the years.”
Dymphna Headen, commenting on behalf of the Bawnboy Workhouse Ltd Templeport Resource Centre said:
“Once again, Bawnboy Workhouse Ltd has benefitted greatly this year from SSE Airtricity’s Community Funding programme. Last year’s funding allowed us to erect solar panels as a source of electricity and helped greatly with the volunteer work. This year’s funding will enable us to erect more solar panels in the Laundry Block for volunteer work to continue.”
