Women in Engineering Day – Jodie Ball profile

23 Jun 2016

National Women in Engineering Day (#NWED2016) is an international awareness campaign to raise the profile of women in engineering and focus attention on the amazing career opportunities available to girls. At SSE we know we’ve got a lot of inspirational women working in STEM roles so we asked three of them to share how they got started in the energy industry.

In the first of our short videos Jodie Ball describes her work in generation development. Jodie ensures all our renewables wind turbines are properly assembled and up to standard before they are passed onto our operational teams. She decided from an early age engineering was the career path she wanted to follow and some time spent in the Air Corp cemented that idea in her head. Key for her is getting more interaction with girls at an early age to make them aware of all the opportunities open to them.

The sub-theme for 2016’s National Women in Engineering Day is #RaisingProfiles and Jodie is the first of three we’ve picked out but there are many more.

We currently have a number of vacancies within our apprenticeship programme in the south of England. For more information please click here or visit our careers page to find out more about the exciting roles within SSE.
