The SSE project team has today announced turbine delivery arrangements for Galway Wind Park for Christmas as well as new turbine delivery arrangements from the New Year.
There will be no deliveries of turbine components to Galway Wind Park over the Christmas holiday period. Deliveries are scheduled to resume from Thursday 5 January 2017.
Following recent representations from the local community and public representatives in relation to the impact of the current 06.00am turbine delivery time, SSE has engaged with key stakeholders to identify alternative turbine delivery arrangements.
As a result SSE has agreed with An Garda Síochana to implement revised turbine delivery times to take effect from 5 January 2017. This revised schedule will operate for the remaining five months of scheduled turbine deliveries to the site, and will see turbine deliveries crossing the N59 at the junction with Doon East (L53453) at the new time of 07.00am. It is intended that this later time will mitigate the impact of early-morning deliveries on the local residential community.
An Garda Síochana and the site project team will operate a traffic management plan along the N59 between Roscahill and Moycullen at either side of the junction of Doon Road East between 07.00am and 07.15am approximately to coincide with these deliveries.
It is intended that this traffic management plan will minimise disruption during these times to road users while ensuring the safe delivery of components across the N59 to the site.
SSE and the wider Galway Wind Park project team takes its responsibility to engage and work closely with local communities and local residents in the delivery of Galway Wind Park seriously. These new arrangements reflect the company’s ongoing commitment towards minimising disruption to the community while it continues to safely manage the delivery of this important project as we move through the final phase of the project which will complete in 2017.
