On Saturday 16 June, SSE and Coillte are inviting people of all ages to enjoy a walk through Galway Wind Park, Ireland’s largest wind farm, in stunning Connemara.
The walk will celebrate Global Wind Day, a worldwide, annual event that encourages people to discover the power of wind energy.
This event, which is brought to you free-of-charge courtesy of Galway Wind Park, SSE and Coillte, is part of the local Oughterard Trails Festival, a fun-filled walking weekend for all the family, celebrating the unique character and beauty of the area.
This is a three-hour guided walking event which allows all participants to explore the power and possibilities of wind energy at Ireland's largest wind farm, while getting up close to the magnificent wind turbines located in the Cloosh Valley. The guided walk along the newly-developed trails will be led by Noel Joyce who will share stories about the nature and heritage of the valley, as well as SSE’s John O’Sullivan who will give an overview of the operations at Galway Wind Park.
The walk at Galway Wind Park kicks off at 3:30pm on Saturday 16 June. Walkers meet at Car Park 2 at Galway Wind Park, which is located on the Sheanapheasteen Road.
