
Alistair Phillips-Davies, SSE Chief Executive, said: “We welcome the proposal to bring forward the date to phase out petrol and diesel cars to 2035, and with the public EV charging infrastructure in place this could be 2030.
“With the right frameworks in place the UK could have the most extensive EV charging network in the world by 2025, helping drivers make the switch to EVs.
“Accelerated action on the electrification of transport is a good start in this COP26 year. There are, however, many more opportunities for greater action in the UK with increased renewables ambition and progress on carbon capture and storage at the front of the queue.
