School pupils in Dundee and Angus have been given the chance to show how they would lead the world towards a greener, net zero life if they were world leaders.
The competition is being run by the Engineering Development Trust (EDT) and is funded by Seagreen Wind Energy Limited which is currently constructing Scotland’s biggest windfarm, the 1.1GW Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm located 27km off the Angus coast.
20 teams were selected as finalists from 13 schools, and the winners were announced and awarded during a virtual showcase event on Tuesday 7 December.
The virtual event was a fun-filled celebration of the work which students have completed and a showcase of their spectacular ideas, with guest speakers from Seagreen.
The winning teams were awarded gift vouchers and all 60 pupils who were finalists were each awarded a free ticket to Dundee Science Centre.
Seagreen is a joint venture between TotalEnergies and SSE Renewables. When complete, Seagreen will be Scotland’s single largest source of renewable energy, providing a significant contribution to Scotland’s net-zero ambition and enough clean, renewable energy to power 1.6 million homes.
Pupils in Dundee & Angus from P6-S3 were given the challenge to design posters depicting the following: If you were a world leader, what would you do to transition your community towards a greener, net-zero life? What changes would you make?
