The SSE Renewables Bid team was formed in January 2020 and since then we’ve developed and submitted five bids in the UK and Ireland, four bids in Europe, and one bid in North America.
We’ve won four contracts in the UK and Ireland totalling almost 3GW and we’re currently awaiting results from three competitions in Europe.
It’s been an amazing journey for all of the SSE Renewables teams involved. The bids are highly complex and uncertain, involving both financial and non-financial elements including many hundreds of pages of drafting and selling our story. We’ve also been dipping our toes into international waters with bids in Denmark, the Netherlands, Poland, and New York.
We’re constantly evolving and challenging ourselves as competition in the industry intensifies, with new market entrants, international government requirements, and targets that continue to expand and accelerate in the transition to net zero.
We’ve recently completed an exercise analysing global bidding activity up to 2025. As a result, and aligned with our growth ambitions, the Bid team has agreed a global bid activity plan with the Renewables Executive Committee focusing on priority regions, countries, and bids.
It’s fantastic to have so many great opportunities in an era of unprecedented market growth. We are now looking to significantly expand the Bid team and have several opportunities available, as well as a recruitment plan over the coming weeks and months, in order to support global bid activity.
We currently have opportunities for Bid Directors and Managers to lead these critical bids, as well as a Head of Global Advisory Services to establish and implement our global processes and analytics.
We’re looking for commercially minded problem solvers, great leaders and strategic thinkers who are passionate and excited about our journey, and relentless in the pursuit of continuous improvement to build our project pipeline out to 2030.
