SSE Renewables and members from the Glentarken Wind Farm Development team were delighted to get the opportunity to support McLaren High School’s Careers Day on Tuesday 8 October. The event, held at McLaren High School in Callander, brought together students from S1 through to S6 and around 60 local companies and professionals to inspire the next generation about all the exciting work opportunities and career choices ahead.
As part of our commitment to supporting education and sustainability, the Glentarken Wind Farm team also donated £1,000 to McLaren High School, which was used to support the event.
Our team on the day, consisted of Trainee Engineer, Jamie Clark, Hannah Belford and Aimi Munro, Consent Strategy Managers. They engaged with students at an interactive SSE Renewables stand, providing a huge amount of information about the range of different careers at SSE Renewables. Students got to explore various pathways in renewable energy, from community liaison and project management to engineering and environmental science. Students were encouraged to ask questions and learn about the diverse range of opportunities available to them.
"It was great to see the enthusiasm and interest from the students about the different types of careers in the renewable industry. We really hope that our support and engagement inspire some of the students to look at a career that contributes to a more sustainable and greener future"
Aimi Munro Glentarken Consent Manager, SSE Renewables

"As Head Teacher of McLaren High School, I am immensely proud of the success of this year’s STEM Careers Fayre. I am truly grateful to SSE Renewables and members of the Glentarken Wind Farm Development and all those who took part in our STEM Careers Fair. The Glentarken Wind Farm team also donated £1,000 to the School, which was used to support the event and was greatly appreciated. It was truly inspiring to see so many students engage with the wide range of opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Events like this open doors for our young people, sparking curiosity, fuelling ambitions, and showcasing the vast career paths available to them in these rapidly growing fields. I firmly believe that the skills and knowledge gained from STEM education will not only benefit their future careers but also equip them to tackle the challenges of tomorrow with confidence and creativity."
