SSE will host an information event in Widnes on Thursday 20 March for stakeholders and members of the public to find out more about its Fiddler’s Ferry battery storage project.
Work on the project, which is being constructed by SSE Renewables on part of its decommissioned former coal-fired power station at Fiddler’s Ferry, began in January 2024 and is due to be completed in 2026.
The information event, which will run from 2pm-6pm at St John Fisher Church Hall, Widnes, is a chance for people who live and work near the site to meet members of the project team, view information about battery energy storage and find out more about what will be happening during the rest of the construction phase.
Ivy Uche, Delivery Project Manager for SSE Renewables, said: “We are making progress with construction at Fiddler’s Ferry and look forward to the opportunity to discuss the project with our neighbours.
“Members of the Fiddler’s Ferry team will be on hand to talk about the project and answer any questions people may have about things like how battery systems work and the movements of construction traffic to and from the site.”
Information about Fiddler’s Ferry can also be found on the SSE Renewables website: www.sserenewables.com/fiddlersferry.
