We are progressing a 1.2GW secured pipeline of utility-scale solar and battery projects across the UK and Ireland and a further 1.3GW of other prospective sites under development. These assets complement our existing portfolio of other low carbon infrastructure such as wind and hydro.

Our solar projects will be capable of harnessing the abundant power of the sun to bring renewable power onto the grid, while our battery projects will be able to store renewable power when the sun doesn't shine or the wind doesn't blow.

The delivery of these projects is part of our commitment to a net zero transition and you can find out more about our projects by clicking the links below.

Careers

In order to accelerate progress towards net zero, SSE Group is creating 1,000 green jobs a year as part of its £25bn NZAP Net Zero Acceleration Programme.

Our Solar and Battery team is one of the fastest growing with an exciting pipeline of projects already in full flow.

We have a team of around 100 energy professionals dedicated to deploying Solar and Battery technology to generate and store renewable energy for everyone and we are on the lookout for people to join our expanding organisation.

Supply Chain

We are committed to developing and building multi-GW of solar and battery storage projects in the coming years.  With safety, sustainability and responsibility at the heart of all we do, we're keen to establish strong relationships with our suppliers because we know how critical they are to our business as we support a fair and just transition to a net zero future.

Our Solar & Battery procurement team follows the SSE sustainable procurement code and we include specific sustainability questions for potential suppliers during the procurement process in our tenders.

We have also appointed an independent third-party consultancy to ensure we have supply chain transparency, which enables us to mitigate any potential risks on issues such as human rights abuses and modern slavery.

In addition, we are working with Solar Energy UK to develop a sector-wide traceability protocol for solar technology to help ensure our supply chain is free of human rights abuses.
